چکیده

RXTE observations of the Be/X-ray binary pulsar RX J0146.9+6121 in July 1997 revealed the begin of a new Xray outburst, the second observed after its discovery in August 1984 by EXOSAT. The flux increased by nearly a factor of five within one week reaching 3.2 10−10 erg cm−2 s−1. The corresponding X-ray luminosity for a distance of 2.5 kpc is an order of magnitude brighter than the level observed between 1994 and 1996 by ASCA and ROSAT. The neutron star spin period was measured to 1404.2 ± 1.2 s indicating the start of a spin-up phase as expected for increased matter accretion onto the neutron star during outburst. A combined spectral analysis of ASCA and RXTE data revealed an exponential cutoff in the power-law spectrum at 4 keV.

X - ray observations of the slowest known Be / X - ray pulsars RX J 0146 . 9 + 6121 and X

We present ASCA and ROSAT observations of the Be/X-ray binary pulsars RX J0146.9+6121 and X Persei between 1990 and 1996. Measuring the neutron star spin period and X-ray luminosity of X Persei shows that the episode of low X-ray luminosity and monotonic spin-down since 1978 continued to at least August 1995. ASCA and ROSAT HRI observations of RX J0146.9+6121 detected the pulsar with the longes...

Rossixte and Bepposax Observations of the Be/neutron Star System Rx J0146.9+6121

We report RossiXTE and BeppoSAX observations of the X–ray pulsar RX J0146.9+6121, the neutron star/Be binary system with the longest known spin period. Data obtained one month after the most recent outburst (July 1997), show that the source has returned to its normal luminosity of a few 10 34 erg s −1 while spin-up continued at an average rate of ∼ 5 × 10 −8 s s −1 .

Discovery of two new persistent Be/X-ray pulsar systems

We present RXTE observations of two recently identified massive X-ray binaries. RX J0440.9+4431/BSD 24–491 and RX J1037.5–564/LS 1698 are confirmed as accreting Be/X-ray systems following the discovery of X-ray pulsations, with barycentric pulse periods of 202.5±0.5 s and 860±2 s respectively. The X-ray spectral analysis shows that the energy spectra of the pulsars can be represented by a power...
